Kings Of Leon Lincoln Concert reviews
Awesome show, very enthusiastic crowd!
As someone who used to see this band religiously in their early years, my interest waned when they blew up. This isn’t because they got popular, or got relegated to larger, less intimate venues (though I vastly prefer small clubs most of the time), but really because their musical style changed.
If you love KOL for their catalog from Only By The Night and beyond, I would rate this 5/5. If, however, you yearn to hear much more of their first couple of albums (yet still enjoy the rest of their work), you will probably enjoy them greatly but miss those early years shows, where they ended most nights with “Trani”, complete with mic slam as an exclamation point. I didn’t care if that was cliched or not, because it felt real, and stuff like “Soft” or “Spiral Staircase” might be on the less intricate side of music, but it sure as hell rocks.
While I am happy for their success, part of me selfishly wants to hear more of that band, though I am sure it might lose much of their current audience in the process (which is probably why they don’t play much from that era).
If they ever tour playing almost exclusively those first 2-3 albums, I will likely follow them like they were the Grateful Dead, but I suspect that’s not going to happen.
